The study of the human body is an invaluable part of medical education and research. Each year a number of body donations are needed for the teaching of medical and physician-assistant (PA) students – both on Brown University's main campus and at its affiliated hospitals and universities.
All members of these medical and research communities rely on and are greatly indebted to anatomical donors and their families for their generous gift.
The sole source of body donors are from private first-party* donations.
*A ‘first party’ donation is one in which the individual donating their body makes the voluntary decision while they are alive and deemed capable of informed consent.
